Environmental & Community Initiatives
North American Waterfowl Management Plan
CNR participates in a NAFTA nations’ initiative to restore the migratory waterfowl population through habitat enhancement.
CNR has a regional impact through the Playa Lakes Joint Venture… encompassing Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas… utilizing federal and state regulatory agencies, environmental interest groups (e.g. Nature’s Conservancy), industry, and private land owners. CNR’s activities include maintaining three wetlands for migratory birds (Cedar Lake is a North American Central Flyway), monitoring their condition, reporting to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and financial contributions.
South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
CNR partners with SPWRC by providing a release site for rehabilitated animals on our protected habitats. We also partner with the SPWRC financially in supporting their mission of providing humane care and rehabilitation to orphaned, ill, injured and displaced wildlife with the goal of releasing animals back to the wild. They also provide environmental education, using a rational approach to appreciation and conservation of natural resources for future generations.
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
CNR is an Imperial Habitat Partner and seat holder on the Habitat Council.
CNR’s partnership has contributed to the completion of over 2,000 habitat conservation projects and the conservation and enhancement of more than 7 million acres of vital habitat.
CNR has won the prestigious Certificate of Achievement from the Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission (TNRCC) with an exemplary record of environmental compliance.
